Investing in iPod part suppliers February 15, 2005 at 05:00pm EST An article in CNN/Money by Paul La Monica looks at a handful of Apple's iPod component suppliers who have cashed in on the iPod's recent success, posing the question of whether it's still worth buying into any of these companies. The article focuses on Synaptics (Click-Wheel), Audible (downloadable content), Sigmatel (iPod shuffle controller chip), and Portable Player (processors for the iPod and iPod mini). Of the four, Audible has seen the largest gains, with its stock surging 145 percent in the past year. But its shares are trading at about 70 times 2005 earnings estimates, the report notes. Synaptics, whose shares were up 36 percent of the past year, has recently been taken for a wild ride due to concerns Apple may develop its own click-wheel interface. Its stock is down 24 percent in recent weeks. Meanwhile, after examining the two chip companies, La Monica believes SigmaTel is 'probably the better bet.' http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/05/02/15/investing_in_ipod_part_suppliers.html Apple to open retail store on Santa Monica Boulevard July 14, 2004 at 03:00pm EST Apple Computer, Inc. will open a retail store in the upscale Century City Shopping Center on Santa Monica Boulevard, just 1 mile from Rodeo Drive, AppleInsider confirmed this afternoon. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/04/07/14/apple_to_open_retail_store_on_santa_monica_boulevard.html Apple to address theft concerns at retail stores August 10, 2004 at 08:00pm EST An increasing level of theft at Apple Computer's often crowded retail stores has prompted the company to install measures that will insure better protection of its assets, AppleInsider has learned. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/04/08/10/apple_to_address_theft_concerns_at_retail_stores.html Electronic Arts, id Software announce commitment to Mac gaming June 11, 2007 at 03:25pm EST In what may have been the only unexpected announcement at Apple's annual developers conference on Monday, chief executive Steve Jobs revealed that two of the PC industry's largest game developers are actively working to bring their most popular titles and latest technology to the Mac platform. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/06/11/electronic_arts_id_software_announce_commitment_to_mac_gaming.html In short: Apple & Pixar options update, CS3 Apple demos, MagSafe March 19, 2007 at 04:00pm EST Apple Inc. is offering employees affected by its stock option fiasco the opportunity to amend past options.
